“New laws concerning rigging training are coming November 2010. Are you in compliance?”
Consolidated Rigging is a certified “train the trainer” Crosby Group Below The Hook instructor. We offer OSHA and ANSI compliance training to staff of companies who handle rigging products.
This course is designed to provide the trainee with the basic knowledge and skills to recognize and identify unsafe conditions while using rigging hardware and equipment. It also serves as the pre requisite for CA-004 “Train-The-Trainer” class, and CA-006 Rigging Trainer Development.
Here is what this course covers:
1. Define the term “Risk Management” and identify ways to reduce the risk of an accident.
2. Recognize the new expectations required in ASME B30.9 and B30.26
3. Identify unsafe rigging situations that could cause loss of load by evaluating the use of rigging gear.
4. Identify the key questions to ask when developing a Basic Rigging Plan.
5. Identify the general Industry Standards for Rigging Hardware and Slings.
6. Recognize unacceptable operating practices when using Slings per B30.9 and the need to pad sharp corners.
7. Recognize single and multiple leg basics for good load control.
8. Identify a few of the special techniques for good load control.
9. Explain the importance of knowing the weight of the load and discuss ways to calculate.
10. Explain how to find / rig to the center of gravity, and sling loading.
11. Explain the Basics of “The Rigging Triangle”
12. Explain how to calculate loading in the slings using the load multiplier-L/H method.
13. Explain the loading seen at the top fitting in a “Rigging Triangle.”
14. Recognize ASME B30.10 and B30.26 Standards.
15. Explain the need for good material properties in rigging hardware.
16. Recognize the minimum hardware identification requirements per ASME B30.10 and B30.26 and effects of Environment on Rigging Hardware.
17. Discuss proper hoist hook and latch applications.
18. Discuss proper shackle applications.
19. Make attendees aware of pages in workbook discussing proper application of links, rings, turnbuckles, and hoist rings. Discuss proper installation and application of Eye Bolts if not already discussed.
